Salute to Summer 2001

SEP15, 2001, Patriot Lake in Shelby Farms, Memphis, TN – A great day by the lake for a car show. In response to an invitation, we had 13 member cars of the 18 who committed. Other than some problems with dust from the closely clipped lawn in the show area, it was really beautiful. Lots of "American Iron"; even some military & fire fighting classes with a good turn out in both. Of course, lots of Corvettes.

So, how did things shake out for the VWs? Well, the VW class was split into air-cooled, water-cooled, and an open 2001-2002 New Vehicles class.

Here are the winners:

3^rd Place – Ricky Briggs, 57 Bug Oval

1^st Place – Mike Carroll, New Beetle

2^nd Place – Daniel James, Corrado

3^rd Place – Other

1^st Place – Tina Thames, New Beetle

2^nd Place – Herbie Thames, New Beetle

3^rd Place – Other

I still have plenty of space on my trophy shelf.. ha ha!
