You know, sometimes we "VW Enthusiasts" take the "love of the bug" to the extreme!  Like taking a Saturday afternoon drive to Little Rock to buy a new Beetle!  Now, I personally, had rather sleep!  However, that is exactly what VW Enthusiast and Tech Tip writer, Mike Carroll did! (Went to Little Rock, not sleep, like me!)

Mike and Melanie made the trip over to Northpoint VW in Little Rock the first Saturday in August. They were unloading Beetles from two trucks when the yellow one struck their eye.  Something different from One White Bug, I would say!  But, that is a good thing.  Mike choose the 1.8 liter turbo because the sales person was a “Money Enthusiast" and tried to sell the 2001 non-turbo for more money than the 2002 turbo.  What's up with that?  And in a couple of hours they were headed back to Memphis in the brand new Yellow 2002!

Mike says, out of this experience he's glad he bought the turbo!  He hasn't run a 5.0 Mustang yet, but he's sure his new turbo could give the Mustang a good run.  The Mustang would have a hard time keeping up with the Turbo for a good ways!  He says the car is quieter than the '99 white Beetle, and also rides better.  He's such a nice guy, he even bought an automatic so his Melanie can join in the fun of driving a turbo. (Better watch out, we women take what we like and you will never see it again!)  He plans to upgrade the computer chip to make the turbo engine put out 225 horsepower!  Then he could really give a Mustang a run for his money!

This is the car he plans to keep, hopefully, for the next 20 years.  Having said that, we should have many stories and "VW Moments" from Mike in the years to come.
