Mid-South VW Club Enjoys Olive Branch, MS Christmas Parade December 8, 2001 – Perhaps it was the cold temperatures or the intermittent rain that kept our turn-out low. We have had better participation. But we still had fun anyway. Those taking part were Ricky & "Chelsea", Mitch & daughter Alexandra, Dee & Linda, Tim & friends, and my wife Connie & me.
I think I might have worn out my "beep-beep" horn, trading the "Shave and a haircut, two bits" calls back and forth amongst the Club V’dubbers. Does not take much... Speaking of entertainment, The Grinch, pulled behind Mitch’s baja was a hit with the crowd. Almost as big a hit as those crazy horses, wearing bib overalls that followed our club. Being the last in our group, I heard one phrase TOO many times… "Hey, look… that horse is wearing pants!" I have to admit, it was pretty cute. Other than some blustery winds and an extended "stop" midway through the parade (we were actually out of the VWs, stretching our legs for a good 15 minutes), it was a good day of enjoying the holiday spirit with the crowd. Hope you enjoy some of the photos. -Bill Conkel-
