MAY 4th, Jonesboro, AR – Northeast Arkansas Volks Folks moved their second annual show to a spring venue this year; trying not to overload the fall lineup. They were under a real time crunch to get everything ready. But they did a great job. The rain that started on Friday ended with drizzle just in time for the show to go on at Pavilion 4 by the lake in beautiful Craighead Forrest Park, just a couple miles south of Jonesboro. Backing up the clock, Dee & Linda and Connie & I headed up late Friday afternoon, looking forward to a mini-mini-vacation at the local Holiday Inn... which is also right next to the Cracker Barrel (oink-oink!). Well, the pool in the Holidome was full of children, so Dee & I tried to sneak into the food line for the Jonesboro High School 53-year class reunion. Ha ha... just kidding! However, we did make plans for doing some major damage on the hotel breakfast buffet on Saturday. We even managed to find a quarter car wash. Hate to say it, but spit and a Kleenex would have been more affective. Munch, munch. Then, we were off to navigating to the park. All set up and ready to go. I released my "secret weapon"; das remoofable backum blousen (translated "the removable rear apron"). But for excitement, it was nothing compared to watching the TV reporter, strap his camera on the front of a drag car and then try to haul tail up the street with the camera running. Hope he doesn’t quit his day job. Anyway, on to the awards. Our club scored BIG. I hope I have these trophies right. Here goes, for the Mid-South VW Club members:
Best of’s:
