After the day campers left on Saturday, we all settled in for a great night of camping in a light rainstorm.

The next morning we broke camp, with Radar expertly packing his tent. Then it was off to the “Hut” in Somerville, TN. While we were enjoying a great breakfast, Larry came to our table and queried us as to the owners of the VWs (Larry of Lagrange, TN has never met a stranger).

Larry informed us that he had a VW bus of unknown birth date that he would part with. Crash asked Larry for his address and broke out his short pencil. Well, Larry, then, broke out HIS short pencil.

We both told unknowledgeable Radar and Sub why keep short pencils and scratch paper with us at all times.

Leaving the Hut, the next stop was the drop zone. Big, Bad Sub declined a ride in airplane versus Radar jumping (pun) at the opportunity to ride up to 15,000 ft. and make sure that Crash exited the plane safely.  So, Sub was the ground crew and got to watch Crash make a facedown landing.

Still in the ground crew, support role, Sub had to give Radar a jump-start in the drop zone parking lot as Radar’s 75,000-watt alternator did not provide a recharge for the battery after the previous night’s usage.

Okay, now off to see “Short-Pencil-Larry’s” hippy bus. Radar was really excited, anticipating the hook up with the bus. Larry was at home. The bus was there. And, for a mere $800, Sub could have the bus. Space here would not allow for the details of the bus. But words like “Horrible, pretty bad, ungodly,” all come to mind. Exit, stage left….

Candy, Niña, Radar, Sub & Crash had a fine dining experience in Moscow, TN at the Wolf River Barbecue Stand (do these people eat a lot, or what?), not to be confused with Moscow on the Hudson.

It wasn’t long before the rain caught up with us again, on the final leg of our trip from Moscow to Memphis.

This was a great experience for me. I truly enjoyed it and got to know both Marks better. Hope we can do something like this again next year.
